Limescale is a hard, chalky deposit made up primarily of Calcium Carbonate (CaCO₃) It forms when hard water, which contains high levels of dissolved Calcium and Magnesium minerals, evaporates. Limescale commonly builds up on surfaces and inside thinjgs that are frequently exposed to hard water, such as:
- Pipes and plumbing fixtures
- Shower heads and taps
- Shower cubicles and tiles
Effects of Limescale
Damage: Limescale can reduce the efficiency and lifespan of heating elements in appliance
Clogged Pipes: Limescale build up may restrict water flow in pipes, taps and shower heads, leading to higher energy costs and plumbing problems.
Stains and Marks: It leaves white or off-white stains and stubborn residues on surfaces, which can be difficult to remove.
