Hint & Tips For Keeping Your Air Fryer Clean

When your air fryer gets all dirty and greasy from food, oils and fats, don’t sweat it! The insert and tray usually have a non-stick coating, so food slides off easily. But if you skip the cleaning, watch out! Those residues will get tough and carbonized and stick around for a tough time.

Make sure your air fryer trays and inserts stay sparkly clean with our Kitchen Wizard Power Spray! Follow these hints and tips to zap away food residues, oils and fats in a flash keeping your air fryer clean and in good working order.

Safety First

  • Unplug and cool down: Always unplug the air fryer and let it cool down to room temperature before you start cleaning.

Disassemble The Parts

  • Remove basket and tray: Take out the basket, tray, and any removable racks or pans. These are the dirtiest parts.

Clean The Basket and Tray

  • Normal cleaning: In the sink spray both sides of the trays, or removable racks and pans leave for 3 minutes then gently scrub away any stuck-on food or grease and rinse clean.
  • Stubborn residue: If there’s stubborn grease or food residue, spray the basket and tray with Kitchen Wizard, and leave for 10-15 minutes before gently wiping and scrubbing.

Clean The Interior

  • Wipe the heating element: Use a damp cloth or sponge to gently wipe down the heating element at the top of the fryer. Be careful not to scratch or damage it, do not use a cleaning product as you cannot easily rinse or wipe it away.
  • Remove residue: For baked-on grease, use a soft-bristle brush or a toothbrush to gently scrub the area.
  • Wipe down: Use a clean, damp cloth to wipe down the interior walls of the air fryer. Avoid using abrasive pads that could damage the non-stick coating.

Clean The Exterior

  • Wipe the outside: Use a damp cloth with a light mist of Multi Surface Magic to clean the exterior of the air fryer.
  • Dry: Use a soft cloth to dry the exterior and all other parts before reassembling.

Check The Fan And Vents

  • Inspect for debris: Look at the fan and vents for any food particles or grease build-up.
  • Clean carefully: For grease and build up apply Kitchen Wizard directly to a soft brush or a cloth to clean around the fan area. Ensure the air fryer is completely dry before plugging it back in.

Reassemble The Air Fryer

  • Ensure everything is dry: Make sure all parts are thoroughly dry before putting them back together.
  • Reassemble: Place the tray and basket back into the air fryer.

Preventive Maintenance

  • Clean regularly: Clean your air fryer after each use to prevent grease and food from building up.
  • Line the basket: Consider using parchment paper or foil liners (designed for air fryers) in the basket to catch drips and reduce cleaning time.
